August 3 thru 7, 2016 is coming up at warp nine - soon Star Trek fans from across the world will converge on Las Vegas to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our favorite science fiction franchise. Darren, Daniel, and Phillip all plan to be in Vegas - in order to prepare themselves and all new (or veteran) Las Vegas con-goers, they are joined by Amy Imhoff, of the "Shoes and Starships" blog (http://www.shoesandstarships.com).

Amy is a regular attendee of STLV - she has been featured on fan panels, from topics ranging from  "Literature in Star Trek" to "Trek Girl" (Feminism & Trek). She explains in this episode what to expect at STLV - from what you should pack before you leave to the best places to eat around the Rio Suites Hotel. Amy describes the rooms at the Rio, what the "unwritten rules" are when you spot a Trek celebrity, and how to avoid "con crud."

Join Earl Grey as they share the best way to prepare for the upcoming 50th Anniversary Star Trek Las Vegas convention.

Earl Grey 112: Troi, Goddess of Internity

Marina Sirtis Talks TNG, Internity, Women, and More.

Fans know her as "Imzadi" and ship's counselor, but Marina Sirtis is much more. Phillip, Darren, and Daniel interview Marina (on #DeannaTroiDay!) about her new series Internity and the campaign to fund its production.

Sirtis helms the cast of Internity, a medical dramedy, where she plays Dr. Camila Chivari, a 50-year-old divorcee embarking on a second career as a doctor. She finds herself being bossed around by a chief intern (Joey Adams, also writer and producer for the series) who is the same age as her children, while also encountering Nurse Tracey (Carla Jimenez) and Medical Director Dr. Owen Sieber (Richard Ruccolo). The pilot episode is directed by another Enterprise-D alum, Michael Dorn, who provides a chance for a TNG flashback reunion scene!

Marina not only talks about her excitement about being involved in Internity, but also describes what it's like to develop a show as a "fan-funded" series, the struggles of women in the entertainment industry (and society overall), and ... yes, why The Next Generation is the best. The Earl Grey trio and Marina discuss her voice acting exploits (from Gargoyles to Mass Effect), her adventures with her Next Gen family & the other Trek series she appeared on, what it was like to finally wear a blue shirt, and explains the Riker/Troi relationship dynamic.

Join this special episode of Earl Grey with Marina Sirtis as she reveals what position on the Enterprise-D she coveted, her favorite character on the Holodeck, and why she is proud to be a part of the TNG legacy.

Earl Grey 59: The B, C, & D Team

Casting TNG with Larry Nemecek.

The familiar credits roll during every episode of The Next Generation. But how did our favorite actors get these timeless roles? And how close did other actors come to crewing the first version of Star Trek to take place in the 24th century? In this episode of Earl Grey, "Dr Trek" himself, Larry Nemecek, joins us to discuss casting The Next Generation. Darren, Phillip, and Daniel talk about how important it was to get "famous" names in Trek's second televised live-action incarnation, where each of the actors were in their careers in the mid 1980s, and how close Wesley came to being "Leslie" Crusher. Larry also reveals what actors lost out in being cast in the main roles and in what subsequent episodes they appeared in as guests, as well as which actor ended up being cast in a main role in a later Star Trek series. Get your glossy headshots ready, break a leg, and join us in discussing the casting process on TNG.

Huston Huddleston: The New Starship Interview.

It’s one of the most iconic settings in all of science fiction—the bridge of the 1701-D. And when The Next Generation wrapped and the ship crashed on Veridian III, we thought that hallowed ground was gone forever. Thankfully fate didn’t count on Huston Huddleston, whose ‘Save the Starship’ campaign has resurrected Picard’s old stomping ground for those of us in the past. Don’t you just love temporal mechanics? In this episode of Earl Grey we bring you our first interview as Huddleston sits down with hosts Phillip Gilfus, Darren Moser, and Daniel Proulx for an overview of the project, how it’s doing currently, and a little bit about what is coming next. We also get in some general TNG talk, including favorite episodes and celebrity encounters.
