141: The Council of Mistresses
BridgeMates - Women at Warp.

BridgeMates is a game that asks a team of two trek.fm co-hosts whether they really know their BridgeMate. Team Free Enterprise, comprised as always of Daniel and Darren, add another letter to their logo and attempt to win their first victory. This time, they are up against one half of trek.fm's Women of Warp show - Jarrah Hodge and Andi VanderKolk. This Council of Mistresses are ready to take on the wide variety of The Next Generation-based questions to ensure Daniel and Darren keep their losing streak.

Phillip hosts this popular trek.fm Earl Grey game show. The two teams must make it through three rounds of questions. In the first two rounds, each co-host team member "leaves" the mic, while their partner-in-crime answers questions about their co-host. We then see if BridgeMates can "match" answers when their co-host returns to answer the same question. The third round involves BridgeMates "matching" the answers of their co-hosts on previously e-mailed questions. Will Team Free Enterprise make it to the Bonus Round for the first time? Will the Council of Mistresses join the ranks of Team Lizard Babies and the Maroon Monsters? Join Earl Grey, and their Women at Warp guests, for the latest episode of BridgeMates.

137: Encounter at All Good Things
Panel Show.

BridgeMates, shridgeMates ... there's a new game in town on trek.fm! In this inaugural production of "Encounter at All Good Things," Phillip hosts the newest trivia panel show about all things Star Trek: The Next Generation. Darren is team captain of #soLA, featuring "To the Journey" co-host Charlynn Schmiedt and "Saturday Morning Trek" co-host/graphic designer Aaron Harvey. They battle Daniel's team, representing the East Coast, comprised of "Women at Warp" co-host Sue Kisenwether and "Shoes & Starships" blogger Amy Imhoff.

"Encounter at All Good Things" combines clips from Next Gen episodes, acting out scenes from other episodes, knowing Netflix episode summaries, and testing everyone's knowledge of little-known Memory Alpha factoids. Will Team Darren best Team Daniel? Or will Team Daniel defeat Team Darren in this Earl Grey - Civil War? Join the crew of Earl Grey, along with their special guests, as they laugh, speak in Muppet voices, and have as much fun as seven people are allowed to have on one podcast for "Encounter at All Good Things," the official trek.fm trivia panel show.

Earl Grey 110: The Shift Key Is Your Friend

A Final Unity.

The mission of creating a good game based on Star Trek: The Next Generation has been a continuous hit-or-miss enterprise. However, few games can boast the voice talents of the original TNG actors. In 1995, game developer Spectrum HoloByte and publisher MicroProse released "A Final Unity," for both DOS and Macintosh computers. The Enterprise-D faced Romul-, er, Garidian warbirds, went on various away missions, and had Captain Jean-Luc Picard deal with an ultimate moral question concerning power.

Daniel, Darren, and Phillip fire up their boot disks in this episode and talk about playing "A Final Unity." The trio discusses gameplay (both the regular and "quick" versions), the game's story, solving puzzles, the graphics, and how our favorite TNG crewmembers are used by players. The trio explain the accuracy of Commander Riker leaning on the bridge, the game mechanics of yesteryear, and why Daniel holds a game secret more powerful than anything the Chodak have to offer. Join Earl Grey as they enter the world of Next Gen gaming and discuss the 1995 release, "A Final Unity."

Earl Grey 95: awayteamnospace

Echoes from the Past.

When it comes to Star Trek-based video games, there are many hits, misses, and self-destructs. In 1994, Star Trek: The Next Generation came to the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo (SNES) video game consoles. Daniel, Darren, and Phillip fire up their Sega Genesis emulators and discuss the game play of "Echoes from the Past." From the graphics, bridge mechanics, "awayteam" adventures, ship battles, and solving puzzle after endless puzzle, this game captures many TNG elements, including a storyline that resembles the season six episode "The Chase."

Earl Grey also discusses the game's music, what could have been improved, and how it compares to its sister game, SNES' "Future's Past." They also debate how it compares to 21st century Trek-based games, whether "Echoes from the Past" is a "must play" for die-hard Next Gen-ers, and why the tactical station on the NCC-1701-D needs to be in a different spot. Fire up your emulators, meet Captain Picard in his darkened ready room, and join this episode about Sega Genesis' "Echoes from the Past."

Earl Grey 82: When In Doubt Choose Data

BridgeMates.

Bridge officers get to know each other after years of service together, forming friendships just like Data and Geordi La Forge's, that last a lifetime. But how well do they really know each other? That question is put to the test with the newestStar Trek: The Next Generation based-game, "BridgeMates." Phillip Gilfus plays game show host in a three-round competition (plus bonus round!) that places the remaining Earl Grey co-hosts Darren Moser and Daniel Proulx against the co-hosts of the sister Trek.fm podcast To the Journey, Charlynn Schmiedt and Tristan Riddell. The two teams must answer TNG-based questions and see if they can correctly match the same answer that their co-host gives. Will the Next Genexperts Darren and Daniel get to have their "arms raised in victory" at the end? Or will the more "seasoned" duo of Charlynn and Tristan use their Delta Quadrant-based Borg knowledge to think with one hive mind? Join this fun-filled crossover podcast game show that asks the question, "How well do you know your #BridgeMates?"

The Next Generation has inspired the development of many games on various platforms. A board game released during the live run of TNG was the cutting-edge technological feat of "Star Trek: The Next Generation - Interactive VCR Game - A Klingon Challenge." Darren, Daniel, and Phillip choose their characters, press "play" on the VCR, and set their wits against the Klingon Kavok who has hijacked the Enterprise-D. The Earl Grey trio must cooperate, and compete, to ensure they earn computer access levels, gain access to a phaser, and avoid being paralyzed by stasis fields. The timer speeds up as they crawl through Jefferies tubes to the bridge in their attempt to stun Kavok.
